Unique folk sound
Urtönig plays and sings authentic folk music from all parts of Switzerland. The music sounds comfortably familiar and at the same time refreshingly new. This is due to the free arrangements and interpretations as well as the instruments that are used: Hanottere, Häxeschyt, Langnauerli, Trümpi and Muharpfe enriched Swiss folk music a long time ago, but are hardly heard today. The formation Urtönig also lets violin, Schwyzerörgeli, clarinet, recorder, percussion and bass sound, supplemented with more exotic instruments such as Shruti-Box, Sansula and frame drum. Combined with yodeling and singing and not least inspired by sounds from blues, folk and blue grass, the result is a unique sound.
The repertoire
The repertoire of Urtönig consists of old and new Swiss dances, yodels and folk songs, as well as original compositions tailored to the rare native instruments. Look forward to unknown and well-known songs, to which you may also sing and dance along.
