Blues with a jazzy touch
They revive the era of juke joints and honky tonks and bring the dance music of the 1920s and 1930s to the stage: The Shimmy Shakers. The quartet from western Switzerland plays authentic blues music as it was popular in the USA between the two world wars. They lend a jazzy touch to well-known pieces by musicians such as The Hokum Boys, Trixie Smith, Jimmie Rodgers and Lucille Bogan, enticing the audience to shake and dance along. The band has already played at many festivals, clubs and events such as birthdays, drinks receptions and company parties and will provide the perfect musical backdrop for your next event.
The band
Since their youth, the four band members have dedicated themselves to country blues, jump blues and swing, among other things. In 2024, Steph Charlyson (harmonica), Linda Chilcotin (double bass, vocals), Enno Geissler (guitar, mandolin, vocals) and Iris Lagnaz (guitar) decided to form the Shimmy Shakers and share their passion for the blues with the audience. Their sound is raw, simple and authentic, without electronic or pre-produced rhythms.
