Stefan Keller makes music with flutes of all kinds. For him they are the tools with which he brings a new world of sound closer to the audience. His own compositions are fascinating. With the combination of sound, image projections and light installations he creates a completely new kind of music performance.

Music and image

Using a specially developed sampling technique, he produces sound images that go beyond the familiar sound spectrum of classical flutes. The musician amplifies key and breath sounds, which are normally insignificant, and uses them as percussive elements.

The visualization of sound and rhythm with colors and shapes adds another dimension to Keller's music. He uses computer-animated graphics that are projected onto large screens and interact with the music.

Well-founded training

As a classical musician Keller masters the entire flute repertoire from Bach to modern times. He plays the harpsichord, piano and organ or in the trio clarinet and bassoon. He interprets his own compositions either alone with live sampling technique, in a duo with percussion or in a trio with bass and percussion.

Stefan Keller obtained his teaching and concert diploma with Felix Renggli at the conservatory in Schaffhausen, attended the jazz school in Lucerne and courses in the electronic studio at the conservatory in Basel. Master classes with Sir James Galway, Aurèle Nicolet and Robert Dick complete his education.
